Today marks 12 years since the 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti on January 12, 2010. This earthquake created catastrophic damages that, quite literally, shook Haiti into a spiral of devastating loss.
The estimated death toll was around 250,000 lives lost, with an additional 300,000 injured individuals. Just days after the earthquake, LiveBeyond had a small team on the ground in Haiti to aid in the search for displaced individuals and assisting with medical attention for the many injured people.
We hope you will join us in spending this day in reflection & prayer for the continued healing of this country. The last two years have been filled with complications, violence, and turmoil for the country of Haiti.
While the LiveBeyond base continues to create an impact in Thomazeau, the country of Haiti needs our prayers. Specifically, we ask for prayers for the continuation of hearts and minds to be transformed by the Lord. We have seen the Lord do many good works throughout these 12 years. We also know there is still hope for a brighter future for the people of Haiti.
Please join us in prayer today for Haiti’s people as many continue to feel the pain of loss.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.” – 1 John 5:14-15
