Education and Future Job Opportunities – Thomazeau, Haiti

As we continue our 2022-2023 LiveBeyond School Fundraiser, we want to highlight the extreme importance of education. For many underserved communities, access to quality education is rare or even unheard of. And to point out Thomazeau, Haiti is no acception. Many children in rural Haiti do not have access to education at all, much less a school that provides quality content.

Additionally, hindrances to educational access include geographic location, lack of transportation, and cost of tuition. We are overjoyed that the LiveBeyond School is located in a rural area and free of cost to all students. Because of this, our students receive a quality education without it burdening their families. Not only do students get to go to school without having to pay tuition, but they also receive the following at no cost:

  • Uniforms
  • Backpack full of school supplies
  • Books
  • Nutritious meals each school day

All of this is made possible by our partners and supporters. We are so grateful for each and every one of you! If you have not yet had the opportunity to donate to this year’s School Fundraiser, you can support our school by clicking here.

So, what does all of this mean for the future generations of Thomazea, Haiti? The social and economic impact of education is insurmountable. Education plays a very important role in many factors across the human lifecycle, and here are just a few to highlight.

10 Reasons Why Education is Important

  1. Provides Stability
  2. Provides Financial Security
  3. Needed for Equality
  4. Allows for Self-Dependency
  5. Allows Dreams to Come True
  6. Increases Safety
  7. Boosts Confidence
  8. Integration into Society
  9. Economic Growth Locally and Nationally
  10. Overall Protection of One’s Rights

Improved job opportunities, stability, and overall income are highly correlated with education levels. At LiveBeyond, we want the community of Thomazeau to grow and thrive, and we are already seeing the positive effects of education on the local economy. Whether it be financial education for the LiveBeyond staff or the education our students receive from our school, many of the LiveBeyond families have started their own businesses. These new businesses are contributing to the local economy of Thomazeau and creating even more opportunities for the local residents of this underserved area.

We are eager to see the social and economic transformations that will occur in Thomazeau in the years to come. We are hopeful that more and more job opportunities will become available, new businesses will start, and overall health and well-being will improve as this region of Haiti increases access to quality education.
