There are many pieces that come together that allow LiveBeyond to run smoothly and gain traction. Some of these pieces include shipping supplies, connection in the local community, generous donations, and our incredible Haitian staff.
From the beginning of LiveBeyond taking trips to Haiti, the Haitian staff has been a huge part of our connection to Thomazeau.
With their connection to the community, they invite new mothers to the maternal health program, tell families about the LiveBeyond school, and inform families about Johnny’s Kids for their child with special needs. The connection the local Haitian staff brings is invaluable to LiveBeyond’s efforts to create a sustainable community.
The LiveBeyond base in Thomazeau is now run 100% by the local Haitian staff. Our staff consists of teachers and aides for the LiveBeyond school. We have nurses to care for the mothers and babies in the maternal health program. Our awesome maintenance workers keep the base looking beautiful. On top of that, we have a management team to ensure the base runs smoothly.
The local Haitian staff is key to developing a sustainable community in Thomazeau. We could not be more grateful.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. … If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10 & 11
