The Power of Education: Shaping Children’s Lives

If you’re reading this, it means at some point in your life, most likely as a child, you learned to read. For most people who grow up in the United States, going to school and learning to read and write, along with math, science, and many other subjects, is typical. And in that way, your education became a fundamental building block that has helped get you to where you are today. That is the power of education, the power to shape a life. 

LiveBeyond believes that education is one of the most powerful tools to change the world for the better. All children deserve a quality education, which is why LiveBeyond is dedicated to making education accessible to children of all abilities in Thomazeau, Haiti. While education doesn’t solve all problems for children living in poverty, it is a catalyst for change and positive opportunities. 

And positive change and opportunities are what the students at the LiveBeyond School are creating. The outstanding LiveBeyond students are hard at work, learning, and growing. They are truly extraordinary! They are excited about and dedicated to learning. It is LiveBeyond’s joy to come alongside them and help them reach their full potential. 

The LiveBeyond School

LiveBeyond applauds the students for their desire to learn and their hard work. The children come to school ready to learn and have lots of fun. The LiveBeyond students study a wide range of subjects, including science, English, Spanish, French, Bible, math, language arts, social studies, and music. The students are very bright. LiveBeyond is thrilled to report our students consistently rank among the top in Haiti. Also, they have a 100% pass rate on National Exams!

With their education, students are transforming their lives. Students are creating and increasing their opportunities for higher education and good jobs. With their education, they will be better prepared and equipped. The students are gaining the skills and knowledge for success in whatever they endeavor to do. 

Global Education

Unfortunately, going to school and getting an education is still not a reality for many children around the world. Even though education has been proven to exponentially benefit individuals and communities, millions of children do not have access to education. Unicef says education “plays a vital role in building human capital, breaking the cycle of poverty, promoting economic productivity, and eliminating social disparities and inequities.” This points not only to the power of education to shape a life but the power to also shape society and entire communities. And yet the United Nations reports that “57 million children remain out of school.” 

In Haiti, many obstacles keep children from going to school. According to Unicef, “more than half a million children are out of school” in Haiti. Many children in Haiti do not attend school because they simply don’t have a building to meet for classes. Earthquakes have destroyed many school buildings. Other children don’t attend school because of fear of violence, lack of public schools, & inability to pay private school tuition. The children of Haiti deserve better, and that is why LiveBeyond is committed to providing a free quality education that will have a positive impact on the lives of the children in the Thomazeau community.

LiveBeyond believes all children should have access to education. The LiveBeyond School teachers and staff are dedicated to providing children of all abilities in the Thomazeau community with free, high-quality education in a loving environment. LiveBeyond is dedicated to equipping children in rural Haiti with an education that will help improve their quality of life and impact their community in a positive way.

LiveBeyond students are getting an education they can use throughout their entire lives. As adults, students’ education will help them to find employment, earn higher wages, have healthy lives, and contribute positively to their communities. Their education will be the building blocks that will help them create a better future for themselves, their families, & communities.

The students also develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. These skills are not only valuable later in life as adults in the workforce but even as children. They are learning to navigate challenges and make informed decisions. LiveBeyond students are also learning about teamwork, communication, and empathy. These are essential social skills for building positive relationships and contributing to society.

With their education, LiveBeyond School students can become leaders, innovators, and agents of change in their homes and communities. 

Children left without access to education are at a higher risk of unemployment, poverty, and poor health. Children without education often become adults without quality jobs to provide a living for themselves and their families. And communities without educated members can lead to economies that don’t grow and poor job markets. And in this manner, the cycle of poverty is repeated.

But when education is prioritized and children learn, the building blocks for brighter futures are set in place. The amazing students who attend the LiveBeyond School are arming themselves with the knowledge and tools to create more positive opportunities for themselves and their communities!

LiveBeyond believes that every child has a unique purpose and calling. Education can help children discover and develop their gifts and talents and better prepare them for their future. It is LiveBeyond’s prayer that all the children of Thomazeau will feel loved and become equipped with an education that will help them accomplish their goals and dreams.
