We want to take this time to give you a detailed update on Haiti and the current operations at the LiveBeyond base.
As you have seen in the news, Haiti’s President, Jovenel Moise, was assassinated last week. This has struck the country with heartbreak and heightened the ongoing political unrest and violence. While there is much uncertainty during these difficult times, the LiveBeyond team continues to seek the Lord and serve His people.
With political strife and gang-inspired violence rising throughout Haiti, the LiveBeyond base has increased our security to ensure our members are safe and that we are able to continue serving the community of Thomazeau.
During the extremely tragic circumstances, LiveBeyond is taking all necessary precautions and by the grace of God, we are able to continue our operations at full capacity. The Lord is faithful and we praise Him for allowing the work at the base to continue safely and successfully.
The LiveBeyond Haitian staff consists of around 100 members who arrive at the base 5 days a week. Each staff member plays an important role in helping serve the individuals of the Thomazeau community.
Each workday begins with the LiveBeyond Haitian pastors focusing the team’s mind on the Lord through a time of worship, prayer, and preaching. Undoubtedly the Lord hears the prayers of His humble, righteous servants who devote their lives and work to His service. Even during this troublesome time, Lord continues to shine His face on the LiveBeyond staff and the community of Thomazeau.
The five ladies who make up the kitchen staff work hard to prepare 200 breakfasts and 300 lunches each day. These meals are provided to the LiveBeyond staff and individuals who are on the base for services, such as the maternal health clinic, and the students are the LiveBeyond school. The garden staff grows as much of this food as possible so the meals can be prepared.
The LiveBeyond base is maintained and kept in prime condition by our wonderful land crew and cleaning crew. The land crew keeps the trees, shrubs, and flowers healthy, growing, and beautifully blooming. All of the buildings are kept clean and in great condition by the sweetest and hardworking cleaning crew.
At the hospital, the doctor and nurses tend to each patient’s needs. They care for the 350 women who come each week for the LiveBeyond maternal health program.
A quote by the LiveBeyond Clinic doctor: “I am happy working in the Live Beyond Clinic. We have good supplies and a good structure with a good staff so that I can properly work as a doctor in the Live Beyond Clinic. I especially enjoy the LiveBeyond Mother and Child Program because it helps many pregnant women get proper care and medication. I am able to help pregnant women who have infections and high blood pressure. This program allows mothers to feel safe and loved.”
LiveBeyond drivers keep busy delivering food to the local area schools for the Nutrition program. The drivers also ensure the Johnny’s Kids arrive safely at the LiveBeyond base for school each day & return home safely. The LiveBeyond school fills up with hope for the future as the students study, read, learn, and play soccer.
All of the LiveBeyond staff works hard to ensure the community of Thomazeau, Haiti is served well and that lives are being changed! Through this difficult time for the country of Haiti, we are thankful for the presence of the Lord that washes over the LiveBeyond base.
We are hopeful that the people of Haiti will put their trust in the Truth and the Ways of the Lord Jesus Christ. We ask that while you pray for Haiti, that you will specifically pray for: 1) The faith and confidence of believers to be strong, 2) The peace of God to permeate Haiti, 3) Godly leaders to rise up to bring an end to this turmoil, 4) God to continue to use His Church to care for the poor.
May He use these trying times to turn the hearts of the people to Him. Thank you for your prayers and support, and also, thank you for your encouragement for the people of Haiti!
